I’ve always been passionate about history and the natural landscape around us. After an MA studying just that, I spent over a decade working at some of the UK’s pre-eminent heritage institutions, including Historic Royal Palaces, Royal Botanic Gardens Kew and the Science Museum Group.
In 2016, I started my own consultancy business. Specialising in trust and foundation income generation since then I’ve worked with a range of charities around the UK. My clients have included Royal College of Surgeons, RHS, Wimbledon and Putney Commons, Hatch Enterprise, Include.org, Landmark Trust, Campaign for National Parks, Association for Heritage Interpretation.
Having first-hand experience of being a trustee helps me understand the needs of my clients. Previously, I was a trustee of Wimbledon Windmill Museum and am currently serving as a trustee of Earth Trust, an Oxfordshire-based charity which aims to connect people with green open spaces. Between July and December 2024 I acted as Interim Co-CEO providing leadership at a time of change.
"I worked with Clare to help submit a multi-year bid for unrestricted funding with a major funder in September/October 2022 through a recommendation. Clare really help me with the process of thinking about what the funder wanted, what the questions were really asking and the style of our response. She's thoughtful and analytical and I very much enjoyed working with her. And I'm pleased to say we won the bid!"

"Clare recently led a major National Lottery Heritage Fund application for the Association for Heritage Interpretation (AHI), where I serve as Vice Chair.
"She took charge of crucial aspects of the application process, including developing the briefs, concept, and budget while also overseeing the entire application. Thanks to Clare’s expertise and dedication, we successfully secured the grant, which will be truly transformative for AHI.
"Clare is creative, analytical, personable, and possesses a deep understanding of the funding landscape and heritage requirements essential to leading a successful application. I cannot recommend her highly enough."

"Clare was the first professional fundraiser we worked with as a small charity. Her support and expertise has been invaluable- not only in writing bids for us, but in helping us learn about the fundraising landscape and communication with funders and potential donors. Several years on, we are delighted that Clare has been able to join us again with her depth of knowledge and skill to help us develop the fundraising strategy we need to support the growth of Include.org."

"I first met Clare when she was a trustee of the Wimbledon Windmill. Through that contact Clare was integral in writing and securing a Heritage Lottery Fund grant to repair and restore the Windmill which is owned by the Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators (WPCC) a registered charity. Through her role as a fundraising consultant WPCC has employed Clare to provide advice and guidance on a number of other projects and initiatives. Clare was instrumental in helping prepare a detailed project brief for a HLF project to secure funding to prepare a detailed masterplan and associated documents for Wimbledon and Putney Commons. The outcome of that work is due in September 2019, if successful it will enable WPCC to build a shared vision for the Commons, hopefully securing a major grant to enable much needed capital investment.
"Clare has also helped with a number of fund raising campaigns, securing all the funding required for the restoration of one of the major access routes across the Common, and securing the funds for the development of a new Wildlife Garden and introducing a new commemorative bench scheme. I would have no hesitation in recommending Clare to support fundraising projects, particularly for charity's, she brings a wealth of knowledge, total commitment and new and innovative ways to secure funding."

"I worked with Clare when she was supporting as a fundraising consultant at Hatch Enterprise. I was fairly new to the Philanthropy Manager role, and having someone with Clare’s extensive bid writing experience, especially with organisations like the Postcode Innovation Trust, was incredibly helpful. She was calm, capable, quick to understand the specifics of Hatch and invested in the cause. She has broad Trusts and Foundations expertise which she is able to adapt as necessary, and, in addition to drafting bids herself, was a brilliant sounding board for a wide range of funding applications I was working on. I found her to be a clear and strategic thinker, easy and fun to work with and would highly recommend to anyone in the charity sector looking for tailored support."
